Orana History – Work in progress

The name “Orana” – is an aboriginal – first nation word meaning “Welcome”. Nestled on the ski slopes of Perisher, a truly ski in ski out, family friendly, members only lodge. Situated between Telemark Tbar and Pretty Valley chair lifts and overlooking North Perisher.
Orana ski club was formed in 1952 by the original members who were mostly part of a Ramsgate Rovers group. It started with a one room modest bunk house to encourage winter sports which was just starting out in NSW. The original lodge burnt down in 1968 and was rebuilt the following year – you can still see the original foundations and if you look closely some still charred granite stones!
This page is a work in progress and will be updated with a transcript of our early history
